The house was originally constructed in 1877 for lumber baron John Mather.
In 1922, architect W.E. Noffke transformed the building into a Tudor Revival manor for mining tycoon J. Ambrose O’Brien. Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Culinary Arts Institute currently operates Signatures restaurant.
